*Note: McFatty Mondays is no longer!! Instead, I will be posting Momma's Monday Check-in. Join me as I eat and exercise my way through the next 36 weeks.
Due Date: April 2011
Total weight gain: 0
Morning Sickness: A few dizzy spells here and there, but otherwise nothing!
Cravings/Aversions: None yet
Sleep: Too excited to sleep!! I've been getting up at 4:00 and 5:00 every morning. I do hope this passes.
I can't live without: The internet.
I miss: Andy reminded me that I never did get drunk with him. Guess he'll have to wait another two years. I wish we had made that happen.
I am looking forward to: My first prenatal appointment, which I found out will not be until 11 weeks. I know this will drive me crazy.
Aha Moment: When I realized that I get to experience pregnancy from the comfort of my own home this time around. No food scarfing in between meetings to keep the nausea at bay. No hiding my bump for 21 weeks (I actually did that last time). No waddling to the commuter line for me!! No fears of my water breaking in the lunchroom--or for that matter, in someone's car on the way to or from my office. I think I'm going to love this!
Milestones: Three positive pregnancy tests! Implantation complete!
Best moment this week: Going about my day and then suddenly remembering that Little Sears is with me wherever I go. Oh, and my phone conversation with Susan, my midwife--she's going to deliver Little Sears!!
Workout Recap: Our new jogging stroller is the best investment we've made in a long time. It's so easy to maneuver and Roscoe stays perfectly content during three mile jaunts. The Duallie really deserves its own post. I've been walking or running with Roscoe every morning, in part because the weather cooled down tremendously and it's too beautiful to stay inside. I also went to kickboxing a couple times. I've been curious how practical it would be to modify kickboxing exercises, but Friday night worked out just fine--I ran on a treadmill for 10 minutes while the rest of the class did sprints and big jumping moves with weights, and otherwise I was able to keep up. I felt a little more winded than usual, but who knows if that's even pregnancy related. Generally, if I feel out of breath I just slow down. Listening to my body during my workouts goes a long way in helping not to overdue it. Some people forgo abs during pregnancy but I love them because it helps my back do all that work to support my (soon to be) big belly. In the third trimester I'll probably have to modify abs, but for now, I'll just follow along with the rest of the class.
Monday--one hour boxing
Tuesday--OFF
Wednesday--OFF
Thursday--3 mile walk
Friday--1.5 mile run, one hour boxing
Saturday--2.6 mile walk
Sunday-- 3.2 mile walk
Diet: I'm a food tracker. I've been doing it for years, and I don't stop while I'm pregnant. It helps me to be aware of my intake at a time when it's so so easy to overindulge. Right now, I'm focused on eating whole foods and being mindful of whether or not I'm actually hungry. If I have a bad week I can't turn around and diet the weight off, so that motivates me not to go too crazy. Since caloric needs change throughout pregnancy, with more energy required in the last two trimesters especially, I tend not to eat many extra calories in the first trimester. I also prefer to eat the necessary calories and then burn them off with exercise, that way the baby gets the nutrients it needs and I don't pack on extra pounds just for the heck of it.
Goal's for the upcoming week: My goal right now is to walk or run with Roscoe most mornings, and use my pedometer as motivation to increase the number of steps I take in a given day. I'd love to make sleep a priority--so curb the early morning internet searches, and try go to bed earlier. Limit refined sugars.

Yippee!! I won!!
ReplyDeleteNatalie: I need to know which diapers you used with yours when they were born. The BGs didn't quite fit Roscoe until he was a couple months old--but he was slow to gain weight. I need a primer since I only know AIOs.
Thanks for your comments everyone!! This is fun :)
Miguel was the same way. The BGs didn't fit him for awhile and they are still bulky, I only use those at night. During the day, Miguel wears a large BG AIO
ReplyDeleteFor the newborn stage, I did a combo of BG AIOs XS/SM, Thirsties XS AIOs (they might be discontinued)
I also did newborn fitteds with XS Thirsties covers.
