Nursery Complete!

All that's missing are the canvas prints that we'll get when Mel from Worthington Photography comes for the baby's two week photo shoot. He's gonna be a STAR!

And a quick video of the baby kicking last night (all the movement is to the left of the screen--hope you don't mind the penguin pj pants)

Love you Amy, Angie, & Zuri!

THANK YOU to our friends and family who in the past four years have literally seen us through the best and worst!

Is this true?!

we. need. a. new. car.

We've been on the fence about this for the better part of a year, but with the little guy on the way it suddenly seems imperative. The car seat is in and while I love having Echo power, I think it is safe to say we could use a slightly larger (and newer) car. As you can see it is a tight fit for the car seat. If I were an inch taller (or Jacqueline was a foot or so taller) we'd be in trouble.

Baby showers bring May flowers!

Grandma, Tippy, and Auntie V hosted a beautiful shower for me and Baby Sears on Saturday!

While the temps outside soared to 90, we stayed cool inside playing games and snacking the afternoon away! I'm so appreciative to everyone for their generosity--I was fortunate to have three amazing showers hosted by our best friends and family. Our baby is lucky to be born into a circle that loves him so much already.

Up again at 3 in the morning...

No rest for an already weary Jacqueline.

The nighttime pee breaks began only days after conceiving our little babe--as many as 6 a night (and I'm not kidding). This was one of my first clues that our efforts had paid off! Two months later, after my kidneys acclimated to managing all the extra fluid, my nightly pee routine was replaced by torment of a different kind: rising for the day at 5am.

Most recently, it's the hours between 3:30 and 6:00 that I am wide awake, which makes for a loooong tedious day of commuting, working, and gyming.

During this highly productive time, you can find me:
a) In bed, surfing the internet (sorry Andy)
b) Rummaging around in the nursery (smelling tiny baby diapers, baby lotions, and powders; rocking in the leather rocker; folding and refolding baby clothes; perfecting my swaddling technique; or playing with baby toys)
c) In the kitchen sampling food and concocting delicious snacks.

Each trimester has brought a new kind of sleep deprivation that will not be missed post pregnancy. As I type, I realize the irony in that statement.

Update: I'm taking a "personal leave" day from work which suddenly makes me feel soo much better!

What do you think?

Have I dropped?

For Comparison (32 week belly picture):

The infamous 35/35!

Today marks the completion of 35 weeks--only 35 days to go!

Two Thursdays ago, after waking up to a "different" shaped belly, my midwife confirmed that Baby S had indeed "dropped". Three days later I lost my mucus plug, which kicked off a week of random but consistent cramping. Coupled with the realization that I'll be full term next Sunday, we felt it was time to get serious about the fact that sometime (hopefully, soon) our son will be joining us, and it was a good reminder that we still have a short list to address before he arrives. This week Andy installed the car seat bases; we interviewed and selected a pediatrician, organized and cleaned several cluttered areas of the house, and shifted our focus to emotionally preparing for labor and birth.

Welcome!

As our son's birth-day approaches, we feel it's time to get on the blogwagon and establish an online space in order to document and share our experience as first time parents.

Thank you for visiting! Add us to your favorites and check back often!
