It was a marvelous day. You worked hard to put it together yet it flowed as if it was effortless. It has been rather special to witness the transformation of your family from Roscoe's birth to 3, to Merritt's rapid growth and from old home to a great new home for entertaining. It was perfect :-) I hope this week is nice and slow for you.

Big congrats to your mother. My mother also put her schooling on hold a number of times while my siblings and I were growing up due to our age, my dad's work commitments, and moves. She was able to finish a degree to be a sign language interpreter while I was in my 20s and has been following that career path since and I am so proud of her.

I keep meaning to suggest Alice Water's cookbook titled Vegetables (I think she does called Fruit as well) Not only are the recipes super yummy but it is divided by season so easy to flip through each season and get ideas on how to cook with what is growing in your garden at the moment or what might be coming in your co-op share.

You are awesome to have planted with Roscoe! That must have been an exciting morning :-) As years go by and your gardening skills sharpen maybe you would consider adding the master gardener program to your skills set. I think this is the closest to you http://www.nnmg.org/ I'm hoping to persuade Griff to do the same. You are taught all this advanced knowledge and all you have to do is volunteer to teach that knowledge in return. They have a similar master naturalist program. Something to conisder when we are older... :-)

I think it was 24, based on how tightly I knit and with intent to knit a scarf 6 inches wide. It ended up being about 10 inches wide at the final section (I guess I'm not terribly consistent) but blocking helped even things out!

Thanks Heidi! I think you will be more excited about my next project: felted pot holders!!!!! Same yarn, different colors...i'm pumped. Your idea for pillow covers sounds really fun. We should start a crafting circle ;) J and E can join in on the fun, too.

So very feminine...I love it! Next stop, your own Etsy shop? :-) I bet you could have a lot of fun experimenting with patterns and lengths. My sister has been knitting one for Lillian and I can't wait to see it! You both are so creative :-) I may have to commission one for myself..maybe I could trade for a crosstitch of a colorful predator for Roscoe ;-) heehee. I've though of finding cool crosstitch patterns and once I'm done picking coordinating fabric to surround it for a pillow...something like a floral or foilage crosstitch print surrounded by crushed velvet or dupioni silk and cool piping/ trims. I will let you know if that ever happens!!!

Thats exactly how we do it, too. I think its nice to learn about life/death in animal form before moving on to human death. My just turned 3 yo is learning about my own dads life and death and we go together to visit him at his grave- my sweet son asks a ton of questions and we go back home and look at pictures together and try to answer them all. My husband thinks its too early, but he doesnt seem traumatized at all, and he has to learn sometime! But maybe its for my own healing as well. Anyway, getting to the point, I really think he'll be smarter for it- its the way the world works! We also talk about what we eat at home and where it came from.

Ooooh! I LOVE hearing about other people's favorites! I'm totally with you on the shellac manicures...they are amazing! It is finally WORTH getting a manicure. I just have a tough time keeping it up after I get one though. We have a whole bunch of weddings coming up so I think I'm going to try and keep my nails looking pretty with shellac for the summer!
Those fruit crates are super cute and my fruit bowl just broke...think I'm going to have to buy one :)
And that book look interesting. I'm going to suggest it to my book group for our next read! Thanks for sharing your favs!

I had a several paragraph response that my phone just deleted....:-( I did say something along the lines of I see how our cleaning schedules like any disciplined habit are personal and they evolve as our schedules/ priorities change. I never start a task without a million interruptions and I rely on Lillian's help, free play time or naps! Anyhow, I will continue my later but I will gladly jot down my thoughts as I develop a rythm and get some material to you for a guest post :-)

Heidi and Mama Tully: I'll do a post on cleaning products. Not sure I have tons to offer but I did venture into making my own. It lasted for a little while, until we moved here! I can at least review what we tried and maybe others can chime in with what works for them.

Heidi: It is really hard for me to get anything done (much less cleaning) when the kids are underfoot (if I turn my back to refocus my attention elsewhere, they seriously fall apart...I keep telling myself this is just a phase(!)). Hence the one quick chore a day schedule! I am enjoying quieter afternoons here as well. Last week (or maybe it was the week before) I only got in the car one time with the kids, on a friday to get cupcakes. We rode our bike otherwise, and walked more. It was out of necessity at the beginning of the week because Andy had to take my car because he locked himself out of his, but it actually was a lot more relaxing and I was able to get more done around the house, without stressing everyone out. I love that G is dependable for toilet plunging...but gardening is commendable! Maybe he has some tips for me!? Maybe you should do a guest post for me on your cleaning endeavors!! Want to?

Mama Tully: I think this is a great plan for keeping things liveable, but you are right that more is required to enjoy a truly clean house. Combining this schedule with a once a month (or twice monthly, if you can swing it) deep clean would be ideal. Of course, there are additional things like tidying up that happen on a daily basis that didn't make the list. I'm happy to hear that I'm not the only one who needs to vacuum (or in our case sweep) and mop every day! I was checking out your easter photos yesterday before you commented and I really did think to myself that your house looks so clean! Does the twice monthly cleaning service work well for you? Do you stay home or leave? I guess they probably don't have to stay as long since they come on a regular basis. Our spring clean was around 3 hours.

Very impressed! This look like a great plan. I just cannot stay on top of keeping our house clean. I'm the kind of person who would need to do the whole house in one day, rather than one task a day, because I would feel like my house is never truly clean. But our house is pretty large and I am very particular about the level of cleanliness in our home,especially with a one year old who puts everything in her mouth! I do have cleaners come every other week, but despite this, I still vacuum the entire first floor and mop our kitchen floors every night. And obviously there is the picking up that happens all day, every day, but I do one big cleanup each night after the kids are in bed.
I'd be interested to hear what kind of products you use as well. I tend to stick with plain old distilled vinegar and water as a surface cleaner.
